As the new year begins, I would like to extend my sincere wishes to all European Kiwanian members for a 2026 full of enthusiasm, commitment and energy for the realization of our goals.
The great dream that accompanies this wish is that, together, we can carry out concrete initiatives in line with our mission, aimed at raising awareness and guiding our children to take care of the planet that hosts them and that they will inherit. Educating to respect the environment means investing in the future, cultivating responsibility, awareness and hope.
Planting a tree, cleaning a beach or a run-down neighbourhood in your city, combining art and culture to communicate sustainability: these are the green steps that can give new life to our common European project. Small, simple gestures and behaviors, if shared and spread, become actions of great value.
I am confident that at least one club from every European district will contribute to our common project “Green steps for a bright future“, to increase the impact of Kiwanis on communities and to make the world a more sustainable, fairer and more attentive place for the new generations.
May 2026 be a year of concrete commitment, collaboration and growth for all of us, in the name of the values that have always distinguished Kiwanis.
Happy New Year to all.
The new European sustainability initiative, called “Green Steps for a Bright Future“, is a Kiwanis Europe project dedicated to children, sustainability and environmental education.
The main objectives of the initiative, defined to guide the activities of the various districts, are as follows:
In addition to these specific goals, the initiative has a broader mission that aims to empower children, implement community-based projects and encourage intergenerational dialogue.
From a strategic perspective, the project intends to use communication as a key tool to strengthen the organisation’s identity, amplify the impact of individual local clubs and promote the overall growth of Kiwanis.
In terms of expected results, the programme aims to achieve increased awareness through educational materials, the adoption of circular economy practices (with specific targets for waste reduction) and a tangible improvement in environmental quality.
To better visualise the concept, this initiative can be thought of as planting a community garden: each child plants a seed of knowledge and responsibility that, as it grows, will transform the entire social and environmental landscape of the community into a more lush and safe space for all.
