HOW YOUR CLUB CAN APPLY FOR MICROGRANTS

The Kiwanis Children’s Fund has a long tradition of working with Kiwanis clubs to fill gaps in funding for their projects through club grants.

Small grants can make a big difference for smaller clubs with limited budgets. The Children’s Fund knows that small projects can have a huge impact on children’s lives, which is why we are excited to launch our micro-grant program.

If your club has 35 members or fewer and is in good standing with Kiwanis International and the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, you can apply for a micro-grant of US$250-1,000.

Your project must

  • Be a service project that improves the lives of children and young people in your community.
  • Support at least one of the three Kiwanis causes: health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development.
  • Be upcoming or in process (not yet completed) at the time of receipt of the grant payment.

Benefits of Microgrants

  • Shorter application than traditional club grant program.
  • Less need for funding from other sources. No matching funds will be required.
  • Shorter decision period. Applications received by the 1st of each month will receive a response via email by the 15th of that month.
  • Faster distribution of funds. Distribution of funds will begin in December of each year. After that, grant recipients will receive funds within two to three weeks of application approval.

Other requirements

  • Grants cannot be used for donations to organizations, salaries, scholarships/research grants, membership fees, sponsorships, training expenses, travel, accommodation, capital construction projects, or the purchase of land/buildings.
  • A report must be submitted at the end of the 12-month grant period.
  • Once a grant has been awarded, a club may apply for another grant two years after submitting the final report.
